Antioxidant Olympics - Blueberries, cultivated in the U.S.
Blueberries are an incredible food for many reasons. The variety that was tested for the 2010 Open Access Research article titled "The total antioxidant content of more than 3100 foods, beverages, spices, herbs and supplements used worldwide" by Carlson et al. ranks berries very high in antioxidant content and blueberries specifically have an antioxidant content of 1.85 mmol/100g. For referance, bananas cultivated in the U.S. had a mean antioxidant content of only 0.34 mmol/1
